The CORENET X portal in Singapore mandates that BIM submissions include IFC+SG parameters. These fields are critical for regulatory compliance and ensure your BIM models meet the standards set by agencies like BCA, URA, NEA, and PUB.

To streamline this process, we’ve developed a validator that checks your IFC models for the required IFC+SG parameters. This tool helps architects, engineers, and contractors ensure their BIM submissions are fully compliant with CORENET X requirements.

Step 1: Prepare IFC Files

From your native BIM software—such as Revit, ArchiCAD, OpenBuildings, or Tekla, you can export your BIM models in the IFC+SG format. Step-by-step export guides for each platform are available in the CORENET X documentation.

Step 2: Upload IFC Files

Upload IFC file

Once your IFC files are ready, upload them to the validator. The tool will automatically check for the presence of mandatory IFC+SG parameters and flag any missing or incorrectly filled values.

Step 3: Review IFC+SG Parameters

Highlight missing parameters

The validator will summarize how many required parameters are missing. Your goal should be to reduce this count to zero. A detailed report shows which parameters are missing and where they should appear in your model.

Clicking on an object’s GUID will highlight it in the model viewer. This helps you quickly locate and update the corresponding element in your BIM software.

Step 4: Edit IFC Values

Edit values in viewer

You can edit missing parameters directly in the web viewer. For example, if a door’s Fire Rating is missing, you can enter the value directly in the viewer. Save your changes and re-upload the IFC file to validate again.

Step 5: Prepare for CORENET X Submission

Once your model includes all required IFC+SG parameters, it’s ready for submission to the CORENET X platform. While the IFC+SG validator checks for the existence of mandatory parameters, it does not validate the correctness of the values. The validator also does not check for design compliance that are specific to each regulatory agency. Qualified Persons remains responsible for ensuring that the overall design meets all regulatory requirements.

Feedback and Support

We are continuously improving the validator based on user feedback. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, please reach out to us via our contact page.

Frequently Asked Questions

IFC+SG is an extension of the globally recognized IFC standard. It includes additional parameters and requirements specific to Singapore's regulatory framework, ensuring that BIM models meet local compliance standards for CORENET X submissions.
The validator checks for the presence of mandatory IFC+SG parameters required by CORENET X. However, passing the validator does not guarantee approval for CORENET X submissions. Qualified Persons (QPs) must ensure that the overall design complies with all regulatory requirements and standards set by the relevant authorities. The validator is a tool to assist in preparing compliant BIM models, but it does not replace the responsibility of QPs to ensure design compliance.
While CORENET X primarily requires 3D BIM models in IFC+SG format, some regulatory agencies may still require 2D drawings for specific submissions. It is strongly recommended for Architects, Engineers, and Contractors to refer to the CORENET X Code of Practice.
